When I was in the 4th grade @ PS 67 we had MS SCHATZ as our teacher. when we graduated and we went into the 5th grade the entire class found that our teacher was the same teacher as the one we had for the previous grade. Did something ever happened when you went to school

Your 4th grade teacher liked your class so much she wanted to rise with you. It's a good thing, (usually). I never had that sort of thing happen to me. I guess my classes weren't as much fun for the teacher.

I spent 11 years in St Helena. Elementary and HS. (The first grrdae I went o St Pius in the South BX.) When we hit mid school the first home room teacher was Brother Stephen Laurence, a Marist Brother. It was his first year as a teacher. All through the next 6 years I had him as teacher in various subjects. I was always happy to have him as a teacher. Fast forward 50 years, he came to my high school reunion and I gave hima big hug. Fast forward about another 15 years he called me and said he was in the hospital after falliing down a flight of stairs. He was 85. We had a nice friendly chat and I wshed him well and a quick recovery. Two weeks later I heard through a fellow classmate that he passed away. It was our honor and pleasure for this man to have been in our life, class after class over all those years.RIP Larry.

I think you were both very lucky. For you to have that connection through all those years shows what a great educator and human being he was, and what a great student you must have been. As a former teacher, nothing gives me more joy than to be remembered by a student. This is rarer than one would think. I believe it happens more often to HS teachers. Students often come back after or during college to reminisce. But, an elementary school teacher, especially one who was not in the classroom, but rather a physical education, dance, theater teacher. We rarely get that affirmation. So, congrats to you for all those years of devotion, and RIP to a good teacher.
