Branch Rickey knew that there were many NY'ers in LA and San Francisco and more coming. There were Dodgers and Giant fans. The minor league San Francisco Seals (?) were successful. Joe DiMaggio's team before the Yankees. This was the beginning of a major expansion to many other cities which were financially supported by Television income.
