For displaced, misplaced, and nostalgic ex-Bronxites

Posted by Chris on Saturday, March 9th 2024: In Reply to: Summer months in the Bronx and out of school posted by Alvin L. on Friday, December 22nd 2023: No formal vacations per say but a few weekend visits to our parents family and friends in Greenwood Lake, Rockaway and New Jersey. My older sister would take myself, our younger sister and my friend on a day trip to Paramus Bathing Beach which was always special. We had a neighbor who was a student at nearby NYU and she would give me a pass allowing me to use the indoor pool on campus. Stick ball, Captain (box ball) skully, playing johnny on the pony, hanging out on the "ack" aqueduct and opening the hydrant on sweltering days were other ways to occupy summer. Good times.
