E180 HEY SAUL Return to topicsPost to this topic

Hi.I doubt that many on BB remember the subway shuttle from E177(tremont) to the Zoo.The tracks went to Bx Pk south. The tracks were razed some time late 50s or so.Hey Saul you must remember that. Your home on Vyse must have brought you to Bx Pk S,A great kid hang out. And if you ventured down to Boston Rd, I'm sure you remember the Bx casino. And the gin mills and the carny type food joints.Did you ever play in the Soldiers cemetery right between Vyse and Bryant. Back in the day it wasn't fenced in.I came home from the army ( and Nam) 9/67. The area from Tremont to E180 was due to die.As the Chambers Brothers sang "The chang has come today"

JOHN
You're about 8-9 years older than me.
I don't think the subway stop by the zoo was a shuttle, rather it was the last stop for some trains.
Given my age I never went to the casino or any of the "gin mills" you mentioned.
I never went into the Soldiers' Cemetery.
And belonging to a different ethnic group the Chambers Brothers wouldn't mean anything to me.

I'm a white, Jewish guy, and I listened to the Chambers Brothers and so did most of my friends. BTW, the title of the song is "The Time Has Come Today."
