Starting in 1959, when I was 8 years old, when Passover came around I had the task of getting rid of all the bread we had at home. To accomplish this, living 3 blocks from the Boston Road entrance to the Bronx Zoo, I had to take the bread there, so I could feed the elephants. Feeding them one slice at a time, they would grab the slice with their trunks. These days it would and could never be done. It was fun watching how they would sometimes use to push another elephant's trunk to the side so yhey could grab the slice for themself
