on Tuesday, April 2nd 2024: My apartment building was on 178th street near Southern Blvd and Bronx Park. When I returned to the Bronx for a visit to Bronx Park, circa 1980, the building was a pile of rubble (brick pyramid). I could not even get near it and had to view it from 180th street. Indeed most of the other buildings in that whole area were demolished. It felt like a photo out of a book that I had taken out of the library on the allied bombings of German cities in WWII. What an eye opener!! I'm assuming other areas of the Bronx were in the same condition and are now cleaned up?
